1,000 Greatest Drivers: Alan Jones
Despite almost single-handedly making Williams a powerhouse, he doesn't seem to get his due as an F1 legend.
After the NASCAR Xfinity race at Martinsville ended, I updated my stock car model to prepare for my analyses of the playoff-era NASCAR champions for Championship Week and I was trying to write this while iterating my model in the background, but I didn’t quite get it done by midnight. This was obviously a great night to do it so I could take advantage of the end of Daylight Saving Time to complete my model update, my Jones column, and my RotoBaller columns all in one night. I will be updating my model one final time after the end of the NASCAR Cup season, although I might not do it immediately the day after the title is decided because I think I want to catch up on my analyses of some of the various sports car and touring car series that have ended before I do that. I’ll probably have a column up where I post the complete results of my stock car model after this season and it will be a free post. One thing I will share right now for the time being. Three new Cup drivers who did not make a Cup start at the time of my last update in January now have enough teammate comparisons to be included into my model. Their ratings are: Corey Heim (-.075), Derek Kraus (-.111), and Parker Retzlaff (-.167). I’m geared up for the NASCAR posts this week, but here’s the Jones post a little late.
