1,000 Greatest Drivers: Greg Murphy
Anything that can go wrong will go wrong when trying to win Supercars championships.
I don’t know if people still talk much about Murphy’s law even though I know it was a big thing in my childhood. You’re a lot more likely to hear about Godwin’s law or Sturgeon’s law in Internet culture these days (both of which I kind of hate for different reasons). Nonetheless, that is what I am referencing, which is kind of fitting because the driver who shares his name with the immortal adage of bad luck is the winningest driver to never win an Australian Touring Car Championship or Supercars champion. (I suspect he won’t hold this distinction for long because Chaz Mostert is only four wins behind him.) But I’m sure he won’t trade his many Bathurst wins for one Supercar title especially because he beat two future three-time Supercars champions in a different touring car series later in his career…
I missed most of Stage 2 in the NASCAR Cup Series today because there was a tornado warning in my county and I shut my computer off, but I’m okay. My house was unaffected, and I’m glad ‘cause my second dumpster hasn’t arrived yet so I have tons of things I am giving away sitting in the middle of the hallways right now until it likely arrives tomorrow or Tuesday. Obviously my heart breaks for all the people who were affected by today’s tornadoes.
