1,000 Greatest Drivers: Patrick Huisman

How come this guy is arguably less famous than I am?

Although unlike Dany Snobeck, today’s birthday boy Patrick Huisman does have a Wikipedia page in English, he might actually be even less famous than Snobeck as he is the first driver I am covering who has both fewer Twitter followers and fewer results on Google than I do. I kind of get it because I was featured in a YouTube video with over 10,000,000 views while I assume he was not, but auto racing is a skill that is actually rewarded in the marketplace while competitive typing is not so you should think Huisman has more of a legacy than he seems to have. Weirdly, his brother Duncan appears to be more famous even though Patrick was much better and paved the way for him. The disrespect Porsche Supercup gets is baffling to me because I could rattle off like 15 drivers who won in that series (even more if you count the minor-league Porsche Carrera Cup series that are associated with it) who became major GT sports car or touring car stars later and the series tours with F1 so you think people should take it seriously, but it seems like nobody in that series becomes a star unless they break out in sports cars. Most recent example: Morris Schuring. I’m proud that I spotted him before the rest of the racing world caught up.
