September Schedule for Driver Capsules
Who I intend to write about next month.
Here is my upcoming schedule for who I intend to write about in the month of September. I have almost every day planned out for the next year, but there are a few I still have wiggle room. Usually I pick either the day a driver was born or died, but sometimes there are conflicts, and I move drivers around by picking a day of one of that driver’s most famous wins. I had to cover Harry “Mr. September” Gant in September, so I chose the anniversary of his greatest win at Martinsville in 1991 and I’m doing Zanardi on the anniversary of his famous (infamous?) pass of Bryan Herta at Laguna Seca.
I am also planning various “theme weeks” since I think that will make my blog more marketable and timely. In the week leading up to the NASCAR finale at Phoenix, I will be writing about each of the NASCAR season finale winners in the Championship Four era, culminating with writing about Martin Truex, Jr. on the day of the finale, since that will likely mark the end of his relevant career. I know he’s said he plans on continuing to make starts, but I really don’t think he will be performing on a high level to appear on any of my future top 200 lists after this year (although I certainly plan on listing him this season). I am also planning to write about most of the locks who won the Daytona 500 but did not win titles in the days surrounding the Daytona 500, leading up to writing about Dale Earnhardt on the anniversary of his death. I also have theme weeks planned leading up to the Indy 500 (where I will be writing exclusively about Indy 500 stars the last two weeks of May) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Daytona, where I will be writing about most of those races’ greatest drivers in the weeks leading up to those races. I have tentatively scheduled to write about Álex Palou the day after the IndyCar season ends and Max Verstappen the day after the F1 season ends under the assumption that both of them will win their respective championships. Both of those almost certainly seem to be locks, but it’s still possible they could lose and if they do, I’ll replace them with whoever wins the championship.
I know I promised some free posts and I haven’t written one yet, so I will at least plan on releasing one of these monthly release schedules at the end of each month.
